Welcome to the start of your journey on the Path to Gain the Closeness of Allah سبحانه وتعالى by improving your character, removing sinful habits and replacing them with higher moral behaviours that reflect the character of the Prophet ﷺ.
We are looking forward to assisting you along your journey!
Here is a summary of the tasks that your personal mentor will assist you with.
All professionals need tools and aids to perform their job, for example a plumber, an electrician, a chef, a teacher or a businessman. Therefore, you too will need weapons to protect yourself from the Shaytaan and tools to purify your character.
Your 4 daily tools are:
The sheets allow you to assess how you have progressed at the end of each day and take account of yourself in this world before Allah سبحانه وتعالى takes account of you in the next world.
Your mentor will start you off with a few or all of the following sheets below depending on your individual needs. As you progress new sheets will be provided by your mentor to further your journey.
The reward of all deeds are based on our intention. Have we ever been taught how to bring sincerity into our intentions? Imagine on the Day of Judgment bringing a mountain of good deeds that are blown away like cotton wool because they were not 100% for the pleasure of Allah سبحانه وتعالى. To avoid this you are introduced to the sincerity which begins with level 1 below.
Summary of Level 1: In all the major good deeds that you do each day, e.g. your 5 daily prayers and dhikr, you should do them with the intention of being only for the Pleasure of Allah سبحانه وتعالى. You should check and refresh your intentions at the beginning, middle and end.
Controlling one’s tongue has great benefits in this life and the hereafter. By intentionally managing our words, we can avoid causing upset to people and be more successful in this life and the hereafter. This great reward is described in the hadith below.
“Whoever guarantees me (the chastity of) what is between his legs ( i.e. his private parts), and what is between his jaws ( i.e., his tongue), I guarantee him Paradise.”
In this sheet you will start to become more self-aware of how you use your tongue and avoid sinful acts such as: swearing, lying, making fun of people, obscene talk, back-biting, slander, disclosing other people’s secrets, making false promises, singing rude lyrics, etc.
We all want to find focus and concentration when we pray, but often don’t know how – have you ever been taught a method how to learn this practically? In this sheet you learn the secret of how to start achieving this.
Preparation Level
This involves thinking and refreshing the belief that Allah سبحانه وتعالى, The Lord of Worlds, is with me, watching me and listening to my recitation, at least once in every posture of the prayer.
After you have completed the preparation level in all compulsory (fard) prayers for 30 days in a row.
The next Level consists of refreshing your mind that Allah is with me, watching me and listening to my recitation 3 times in each posture.
Your daily dhikr will boost your spiritual energy, so that you can make progress throughout the course.
Everyday for 20 minutes disconnect yourself from your concerns and recharge your spiritual battery.
Now that you are on the path towards the pleasure of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, you need to protect the valuable good deeds that you are accumulating. To receive personal protection and blessings throughout the day the Prophet ﷺ would read the following verses from the Quran and taught his Companions to do the same. These are read after fajr and maghrib prayers and can be found in the Adkhar book below – pages 20 to 36.
Now to keep you steadfast on your journey, this daily practice helps you to build a relationship with Allah سبحانه وتعالى, the One who created you, loves you the most and always wants the best for you. By spending personal one to one time communicating with Allah سبحانه وتعالى your relationship and motivation will improve greatly.
Your mentor has progressed through this practical journey of Self-Development Course and now wants to give back to others from what they have benefited from. They have been trained by a chain of Teachers that go back to the Prophet ﷺ.
